Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, all our counsellors and health practitioners offer a free 20-minute consultation before your first session. This gives you a chance to discuss your needs, ask questions, and ensure that our services are a good fit for you.

We currently offer counselling in person, by phone, or virtually. These options provide flexibility and accessibility, allowing you to choose what works best. If you have preferences or need assistance setting up, we’re here to help.

Yes, counselling is confidential. However, there are specific legal circumstances where your counsellor or health practitioner may be required to break confidentiality:

- If there is a risk of serious harm to yourself or others.
-  In cases of suspected neglect or abuse of a child, youth, or vulnerable adult.
- If information is requested through a court subpoena.
- If a client initiates legal action against their counsellor or health practitioner.

If you have any questions about confidentiality, we encourage open discussion with your
provider.

We require at least 48 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule a session. Missed sessions or those cancelled without sufficient notice will be charged the full session fee. Cancellations can be made by emailing us at info@lewisgillcounselling.com

Do you offer sliding scale rates? Yes. We offer sliding scale sessions for students and
individuals with low income to ensure that cost isn’t a barrier to care.

Are counselling services covered by insurance? Coverage varies depending on
your plan. We strongly recommend checking with your provider before your first session
to confirm coverage for your counsellor’s designation, such as:

  1. Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) 
  2. Canadian Clinical Counsellor (CCC)
  3. Registered Social Worker (RSW)

Please note: services are not covered by the BC Medical Services Plan (MSP).

This depends on your insurance provider and plan details. We recommend contacting them directly. If eligible, we provide detailed receipts for reimbursement.

At this time, direct billing is not available. Clients pay at the time of service and are given detailed receipts to submit to their insurance for reimbursement.

Yes. Receipts are provided for all sessions and can be accessed securely through the Jane App. Please note that coverage for wellness services may vary depending on your provider.

Yes. Rupi Gill is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and listed with the First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) Mental Health Provider list. This means Indigenous clients with status may be eligible for coverage under FNHA health benefits.

Yes. Secure online payments can be made through the Jane App for your convenience.

Yes, additional fees may apply for extra services such as preparing reports or letters. Please contact us for specific pricing.

Yes. In addition to strict professional standards, we use the Jane App—an encrypted, secure platform—for session management and client data. Your information is kept private and protected at all times.

That depends on your goals and unique situation. Some clients benefit after a few sessions, while others may need longer-term support. Your counsellor will work with you to create a personalized care plan during your initial consultation.

No, we do not have on-call services. If you're  experiencing an emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department.
